GANGTOK - NORTH SIKKIM
Introduction
Gangtok, the "Lofty Hill" or the "Hill made flat to build the Gangtok monastery in 1716". Gangtok is a city, which, till one sees it, one would believe exists only in picture-story books. In the mystery-laden mists prayer flags whip in the breeze; wheels spin in the hands of Lamas mumbling invocations to God, in the distance are the snows, on the streets amidst brightly painted pagoda roofed houses, lined with friendly smiling people are silver, silk and spice and jewellery to gladden an maiden's heart, from across the seven seas are gadget and goods to delight the collector of "imported goods', while directly overlooking the city is the hill Lukshyma, the 'Mother of Pearl' citadel of the magic mountain, Khang-Chen-Dzod-Nga.
An air of enchantment hangs over the city, indeed the whole valley; the mysticism, the stupas, the monasteries reach out as soon as one has crossed the border. While across the hills and valleys comes the sounding of the long trumpets by robed lamas.

ITINERARY
OPTION-1: GANGTOK & NORTH SIKKIM (4 days or 5 days)
DAY-01: Arrive NJP/Bagdogra, transfer to Car for onward journey to GANGTOK. On arrival transfer to hotel for refreshment. Evening free in the Mall. O/n in GANGTOK.
DAY-02: Depart early morning after breakfast for NORTH SIKKIM (LACHUNG & YUMTHANG). Lunch en route. Afternoon sightseeing of YUMTHANG VALLEY. Evening free in LACHUNG VILLAGE. O/n in LACHUNG.
DAY-03: Depart early morning after breakfast for GANGTOK. Lunch en route. Transfer to hotel on arrival at Gangtok. O/n in GANGTOK.
DAY-04: Early morning free for shopping & packing. Post lunch depart for NJP/Bagdogra to connect flight/train to Kolkata. (This can be done with an additional day & night in LACHUNG and/or an extra day at Gangtok for a sightseeing trip of TSANGTU LAKE, BABA MANDIR & NATHU LA; in which case the trip becomes 5 Days & 4 Nights).

OPTION-2: PELLING, RAVANG LA, BICKSTHANG (4 days or 5 days)
DAY-01: Arrive NJP/Bagdogra, transfer to Car for onward journey to BICKSTHANG. On arrival transfer to hotel for refreshment. Evening free in BICKSTHANG. O/n rest.
DAY-02: Depart after breakfast for sightseeing of Pemayagtse, Kecheoparli Lake and Pelling. O/n in BICKSTHANG.
DAY-03: Depart after breakfast for RA VANGLA. Evening free in RAVANG LA. O/n rest.
DAY-04: Depart after breakfast for NJP/Bagdogra to connect flight/train to Kolkata (One may add another day in Ravang La for a sightseeing trip of Yuksom- the base camp for some of the most popular treks including Dzongri Glacier & Goecha-La. This would make the trip 5Days).

OPTION-3: BEYOND NATHU LA-Above a Sea Of Clouds! (4 days or 5 days)
DAY-01: Arrive NJP/Bagdogra, transfer to Car for onward journey to GANGTOK. On arrival transfer to hotel for refreshment. Evening free in the Mall. O/n in GANGTOK.
DAY-02: Depart after breakfast for ARITAR-a tiny Himalayan hamlet tucked in it’s manifolds. En route journey through the awe-inspiring dizzy heights of Nathu La over a sea of cloud, overlooking on one side the Chinese Soldiers at their post and the Indian contingent on the other side. We pass through Tsangu Lake and Menmachao Lake and leave the milestone wherein its inscribed-“LHASA-434 kms”! O/n in ARITAR.
DAY-04: ARITAR is the least-known Sikkim village; there is a government rest house, a church a few old monasteries and the view of the Kanchendzonga! After breakfast one may leave for NJP or its worth soaking up in clear mountain air one more night. (In this case the tour becomes 5 days for a very good reason this route is closed between November & March; however Aritar maybe reached from another route that is open throughout the year).
